Ursula Bonitto
Obituary
Ursula “Aunt Kitty” Bonitto quietly passed away at the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Center on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. She was born on November 27, 1923 in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies, and was 90 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlotte and George Bonitto, Sr. and her six siblings Cedric, Frederick (Feddie), Verona (Dear), Olga (Dottie), George (Massa), and Millicent (Missus). She gave birth to one child – her son David Hibbert.
Aunt Kitty was a very hardworking, naturally quiet woman. She was the type of person who preferred to stay behind the scenes – yet was able to make a huge impact by her efforts and touched everyone who met her with her love. Although she came from very humble beginnings – she knew the meaning of family and was particularly close to her niece Angela spending most of her years living with her and her family in Long Island.
Aunt Kitty was shy and would only let her guard down if she felt totally comfortable and was around family and friends at social gatherings – she would then be very vocal expressing her preferences on how to prepare a certain dish (she was an excellent cook), and could be very opinionated on any topic of discussion – often making her family laugh with her lively manner. She loved good food, had a healthy appetite – but somehow always managed to remain attractively slim throughout her life.
Aunt Kitty has always been a selfless person who through the years has helped raise infant family members and friends. She did whatever she could in her quiet, understated manner to show her loyalty, dedication and love to all who knew her. We are all very fortunate and richer for having had her in our lives – her strong personality and inspirational character encourage us to love one another. Her kind gentle spirit and memory will live on in our hearts. She is survived by her loving niece and closest confidante Angela, grandnieces Juliet and Saran, grandnephew Aaron, great grandnieces Angelica, Skylar, Samantha and Savannah – all who have brought her great joy through the years. She leaves behind many other nieces and nephews and special friends including the Fung Family in the United States, the United Kingdom and Jamaica, West Indies, to cherish her memory.
You are so deserving of your rest Aunt Kitty – we love and will miss you. Rest in Peace.
